Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It was the top streamed song at the period within the space of six months. It was a mixture of reggaeton and pop music did not just bring interest in reggaeton but also attracted attention towards Latin music in general. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish languages, while the year 2016 saw four. At the peak of the popularity of Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish were included in the Top 100. The year 2020 will see it will have 41 hits in this category. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 with a version in two languages. Soon, other artists collaborated with reggaeton superstars like Drake as well as Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma together with Medellin 2019. By 2020 a few reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at its inclination towards mainstream. However, a younger generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro, aimed to keep reggaeton evolving. The musician incorporated electronic dance music and other genres into his songs.
