She made her debut as an actor in 1997 at the age 13 years old. Numerous other appearances on television such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation led Vandervoort to be cast as Clark Kent's Kryptonian cousin "Kara Kent" (the girl who was to be Supergirl) on The CW Serial Drama Smallville. Her appearances in the seasons 7 and 8 were as a season regular, "Bloodline". After that, she appeared to two more episodes of the tenth and final season of Smallville. Following The CW, Vandervoort shot The sequel to the film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2 : The Reef. The Jazzman is her third independent production.
